I just got the CD with Raglan Road from EBAY (someone was selling it with the "Share the Journey" sampler, so I couldn't pass it up)... I thought to myself "This shold have been on the Visit." Then I looked at the info and it WAS recorded in 1991. She is AMAZING... I teared up a little listening to it just now.

I just got the Nights from the Alhambra CD at a concert and I haven't stopped listening to Raglan Road since. I'm limiting myself, though as opposed to keeping it on repeat (as I'm prone to do).

The name came from a line of "created" language which was used in an old version of a story I once wrote. When I began posting on message boards on-line... I decided to use the phrase as a name.
Besides, elle is French for "she" and nora basically means wise and/or honorable depending on which name book one uses.
So basically... I am she who is very old and very wise (honorable).

There are many varying versions of "Raglan Road", by many different artists -- but, yes, Loreena's version is probably the best yet! Of course, since her's is the last one I listened to, I may be a bit biased...but then again, maybe not. Ah, they're all good!
And elle-nora': Anyone who says they live "Second Star To the Right" is never "very old" -- but they can be very young at heart. You are only as old as you wish to be! My grandfather taught me that, among many other things I didn't know he was teaching me.

Yes... for those who've seen the series Roar which featured some of Loreena's music, that line was featured in the plot on one episode where Conor and Fergus are told "to kiss the clay".
At any rate... that's what I though of when I heard the line.

I really like Loreena's version. One must realize that some tunes are only remakes or redoes with A PARTICULAR ARTIST's rendition. Raglan road is really good. iwould like it if Loreena could make a single CD thast includes remixes and raglan road as well as the varying rendition of under a phyrgian sky. Thanks Pan

I have to say this is my favorite recording on this release, so far. I have a copy on "Common Ground" by Sinead O'Connor and Loreena's is definitely better.
