I have been enjoying the new album and remembering an old album by Santana entitled "Caravanserai", which is one of my favourite albums from 1970ish-so Loreena isn't the first one to use the title, but it is a nice mental link for me personally!

Well, my case is not much related to music but I I think it'll be nice to tell you my little story: there is a very, very beautiful city in my country,Spain, which I visited last year called San Sebastián (also called Donostia), in the Basque Country region, and the first restaurant I went to has also this name because from what I can remember it was inspired in the old caravanserais. It is the place I first heard this lovely word ...and they make the best vegetarian hamburguers of the world!!!!! It's been a nice casuality that one of the most beatiful songs I've heard lastly has the same name.
Turkish Master "Burhan Öçal" released an instrumental album named "Caravanserai" in 2001. [If you get chance to listen it attention to Kanun (Kanoun) and Dümbelek (Dumbek) rythms]

Myself I'm 52 this year and Santana, was always a favourite band, tho I lost interest in them after "Welcome". THe 3rd album (IMHO) is the real guitar album, with a much more in your face attitude, than the mellow jazz vibe of Caravanserai.. Not sure what that has to do with Loreena, except she's on the CDP as I type..

No-it is entirely different- I think just the name provides the link and the exotic mystical connections that both have regarding the Caravanserai-bringing to mind Omar Khayam. Yes I agree about the guitar work, particularly "Song of the Wind".

Santana's Caravanserai is an awesome album, stunning guitar work, and a beautiful laid back, mellow vibe. To be fair tho. It doesn't put me in mind of Loreena's track..
