Purchased my copy of An Ancient Muse today. Just wanted to express my impressions of this truly wonderful and exceptionally beautiful music! The first time I ever heard Loreena’s music was in February of this year as a recommendation of a dear friend of mine. She played only a few tracks from A Book of Secrets to me, and I immediately fell for the haunting sound. Having listened a lot to Celtic as well as both Arabic and ancient music (and with a great interest in literature, religion and arts), I felt like this was something new that comprises many styles and traditions and blends them into something extraordinary, links past time with contemporary issues brilliantly. At present I own most of Loreena’s albums, and enjoy them intensely. As well as them, An Ancient Muse will stay with me for a long, long time. At this moment, Beneath A Phrygian Sky is a favourite.
