I could listen to her music 24/7. I am hoping I get her new album for Christmas, my heart will swell with joy if I do and if I don't, well then I will just go out and buy it myself. Loreenas music intoxicates me.

Though, as I have already posted, I don't have favourites in this wonderful album (and I still hold on to that), I feel the need to express how lucky and blessed I consider myself having ordered the special edition with 'Raglan Road'. Though the piece does not belong thematically to the rest of the album, I have come to a point that I cannot think myself not having this particular piece. It is, if not my favourite then surely, one of my 10 top love songs (along Carrighfergus, Dark Night of the Soul and Amhran Duit ). I'm sorry for those of you who will not get a chance to listen to it. It breaks your heart in two . Thank you Loreena.....
A question to the mods: would it be possible to put the two polls about "your favourite track from AAM" together (I mean the one I opened in the "General" section and this one), including all the tracks and the other options in the possible choices?
There are also many other threads that should be removed from the "general" section and put in the "AAM" section... Would it be possible to have all the threads divided into more than two section? There could be a "general" section, a section dedicated to the new album, a section dedicated to "favourites", a section dedicated to "off topics", a section dedicated to "history & culture"... and so on.
Thanks to whoever wishes to answer!

Hmmm....I think it's interesting that you have that experience with Loreena's music. Granted I've been born and bred off of ballads, fairytales, and folklore, I find that all of her songs and instrumental pieces tell ageless, beginningless, and endless stories that carry me through a thousand worlds with each verse. I can understand the sentiment towards some music, but with Loreena's...I seem to always find that I'm always surprised every time I listen to a song, that it feels like the first time hearing it, even after the hundreth.

My husband and I are unable to decide which is our favorite because they all seem to touch one aspect or another of our inner selves. We just close our eyes, rapped around eachother, and listen to what Loreena's music has to tell us. Super album. And I thought Loreena hit the sky with The Visit. It is great to (see) hear you back on this side of the road Loreena. I can't wait until you start giving shows again. We will go any where to watch you perform live. This is our dream. Hope to see you soon. Cheers,
Nicole and Carlos

I love all of Loreena's songs. But sadly, I don't have the patience for some of them. Being a teenager with an incredibly short attention span, I feel like the songs are way too long. I wish there were more songs on her CDs. Then there would be more to listen to.
But then again...
All of the songs are so carefully thought out and so well written/ composed, that it would seem a shame to cut a song of hers short!
Back to the topic we started on...
My favourite song on An Ancient Muse is probably Incantation, but I don't know.
I do know that my favourite song of all time is definately Full Circle.
I can't vote now, I still have to make up my mind, I've only listened to the album twice... but my istant-favourite is "The English Ladye And The Knight", with "Never-ending Road (Amhràn Duit)" close second.

I voted for "Can't decide, I like them all too much!"
My B&N edition just arrived today. I have listened to the album for several times now, and I am totally surprised!!!
The bonus track Raglan Road was recorded in 1991, I really wonder why it has never been released in the past since it is such a beautiful song. I have heard many versions of this Irish ballad, but Loreena's version is definitely the best and the most emotional one(in fact I feel that the other versions are nothing compared to Loreena's)...
I agree with Jeanne that Raglan Road indeedly doesn't belong to this album, that's why it is here as a bonus track
I have to say that I just love ALL the songs from An Ancient Muse and I can never pick up a favourite!

So many good songs! When I first got the album I was really into Penelope's Song and the bonus version of Beneath A Phrygian Sky from iTunes. Now I have fallen in love with Caravanserai. If I start playing the album on one of my favourite songs I have to listen to every song after it. Loreena McKennitt really has the power to draw you into another world and I don't really ever want to leave...

¡Hola a todos! Hello everybody! I am still in the process of "assimilating" the album, too, but I can say already that it is one of my Loreena's favorite ones. As always, I have become impressed with the beautiful arragements, personally the songs "Incantation"(as I said in another post, I almost get in trance with this song, it's different, I haven't been able to find a structure for it and I like that), the live version of "Caravanserai" and "Kecharitomene" have attracted my attention, but all the songs have something special. Hugs,
Originally posted by Jeanne: Favourite track from 'An Ancient Muse'? Hehe--how about, whichever one happens to be playing at the moment, on my stereo here? When all are of such high quality, I find it impossible to 'play favourites'. One will strike me, then another, and later, another...but ALL have found favour, here.
On the other hand, how ABOUT this arrangement of 'Raglan Road'? I've sung the song, I've heard others' renditions of it; NEVER have I heard such an--EMOTIONAL rendition of the piece, however. I think, maybe ONLY Loreena could get by with such a thing? I LOVE her version of it!
Just--'Raglan Road' really isn't part of 'An Ancient Muse' so I'm considering it as simply the 'bonus' song obviously intended, when B&N made the arrangements to offer it as such. I feel sorry for anybody who doesn't get to purchase or hear it, by the way...
Hooray, it is here finally! After traveling over most of western Washington State (thanks UPS) my two copies arrived yesterday. One is for myself and one for my dear friend that introduced me to Loreena's music. Thank-you Jeanie! All of the songs are wonderful for their own unique reasons. For some reason I am really drawn towards "Raglan Road" though. For those of you that don't have it, you really need to obtain it. I have been sitting here listening to it over and over. Loreena's vocalization on that song along with her piano playing will probably move my former 'favorite' song (All Souls Night) down a notch!! On both of those songs her piano work is tops in my opinion. Thank you Loreena for a wonderful work of art.
I love "Raglan Road," what a beautiful piece. Among my other faves from Ancient Muse: "The English Ladye and the Knight," "Penelope's Song," and "Never-Ending Road." Loreena and her fellow musicians really did a fantastic job with this album.

I got the B&N edition last week, Mihali, and I got thrilled. The samples are nothing compared to the actual songs! Listening to the samples is like looking to a sigle star through cloudy skies, listening to the whole album is like looking at the most brilliant night sky you can see, full of the stars of countless galaxies, encircling a melancholic moon....
