I agree, of course! I meant what I said in regards to people who think it sounds "too much" like her past recordings. I personally enjoy the fact that it sounds similar to her previous projects. It has that special something that only Loreena can put into her music. Smiler

Well Ysbrd I love the Ancient Muse EXACTLY because it reminds me of Loreena's past masterpieces !!

The Ancient Muse has elements of inspiration without copying last works..It just has the "air" , the FLAME of past and the attitude of them ... And its the attitude we all love and we all want to listen in future Loreena's works !!!

When I get the cd I ordered from B&N I will post my personal review on it althoug having listened to the wonderful samples again and again I am sure of my opinion...

Greetings
Mihalis

I am so very in love with "Amhràn Duit" and "Caravanserai" right now!

I can understand the thoughts behind people saying that it sounds a lot like previous albums, as well, but I think that they also need to take into mind that she's still exploring. She will always be exploring, in one way or another, I think. Since these songs were written about her travels, in a way, the musical styles are very similar to other places she's been!

But those are just my thoughts on the subject.

Let me say that when I listen to the song "Incantation" I just get in trance. Great job, Loreena!

I like it to a musically culinary delight! You cannot eat just one piece to truly i=enjoy what the overall meal brings to the table (he he he); You must take it all in……. I feast upon the whole!

As for similarities vs. differences – I agree with Laurie’s analogy. I might try to add that the repetitive themes in the music are those echoed by the same themes she finds in the religions she write about – and each with their differences.

She is a masterpiece with understanding and humility.

I would prefer to view the whole album as a nine course meal served up with an appropriate drink to each and every song. I only received my copy two days ago and am still in the process of discovering all of the varied aspects of individual songs as well as digesting the completeness of the CD.

That it is an excellent album there is no doubt but every time I listen to it I discover something new. It will probably be a few months before I have a favourite and then it will probably be two favourites - one with vocals and one instrumental. Smiler

Hola. I like all, but if I have to choose one, I remain with Beneath To Phrygian Sky...

Kecharitomene reminds me of Marco Polo, and Incantation of Prologue. Smiler

Caravanserai is definately amazing...but, I like so many here, find the entire album to my liking. Someone here mentions the similarity to other albums....

I can see where they are coming from - I hear traces and essences of previous recordings in many of the songs, and I think that is a wonderful thing. After all this time its like saying 'this is where weve come from' while the new qualities of the music on An Ancient Muse are saying 'This is where we're going'

Completly Brilliant in my opinion!

I would have to say Caravanserai is my favorite.

The album as a whole is amazing. On another thread an individual indicated that she was dissappointed because the album was similiar to previous albums. I my opinion, while the album has a similiar sound, that is not a bad thing. I love Mckennitt's music because it is different, it has a unique sound that will put you in a musical trance.

I listened to Caravanserai in Dolby Digital the first night and what an incredible experience. It was amazing. No other album by another artist will takes it's listeners on such an amazing musical journey.

Thanks Loreena for another amazing album!
