I saw Loreena McKennitt in Asheville, NC on the 26th and it was everything I had hoped it would be. That is to say, "breathtaking".
I had first learned of Loreena McKennitt nine years ago and never thought that I would have the opportunity to see and hear her perform live. It was worth the wait.
There is, for me, a certain magic in her music that is missing from most other performers' offerings and I have to say the the world is a better place for having Loreena McKennitt in it.
If you have the chance to see her perform, by all means, go.
My son and I also went to the Asheville concert and I agree that it was breathtaking! In the age of I-Pods and MP3's it was so refreshing to see music performed live and with such instruments that are not commonly seen in your garden variety musical performance. What musicians! Loreena was also so genuine with her commentaires about her music and experiences that you really felt like you were having a conversation with her. The venue was lovely and there was not a bad seat in the house. I was very impressed by how friendly everyone was at the auditorium. If you have never seen Loreena perform you are truly missing one of the most talented artists of our time. Her CD's cannot even compare to her live performance. Loreena, you are my Muse!
