After all this time with no announcement from Quinlan Road, I think it's a pretty fair guess that the feedback from the promo issue was not too complimentary, and Caravanserai is not gonna see the light of day as a single..
So what's due next, a fair bet says that it should be "Phrygian Sky"
Whilst I don't think for one minute that anything said on these forums, has any effect on what Loreena has already decided to do, I would love to hear a serious "rock" mix of this stunning song... Lift that guitar right up in the mix.. bring in a real drum kit...
Phrygian Sky is a beautiful song already done beautifully, I kinda feel though that it has the potential to "cross over" and be HUGE....

I just learn of Eva Cassidy last weekend as my Scottish friend shared her with me. I loved her voice and how she sang Christie McVee's song, "Song Bird". I dearly wish she was still with us. It is hard for me to comment on whether Loreena should put out a new single, as I don't listen to radio stations that would play her style of music. Even if she did "rock" Beneath a Phrygian Sky, I wouldn't hear on it Seattle's Best Rock or the classic rock station. Oh, well... I just try to let everyone know that she has the most wonderful songs and worth giving her a try and I get 99% approval rating from everyone that I introduce Loreena to. That is a huge difference from Heart or Rush, even Tickle Tune Typhoon. Then again Loreena is special, as you know, we all knew that right from the very first note we heard. Last Sunday I played An Ancient Muse 8 times over and over. It keeps on getting better! ECLECTIC CELTIC BABY!!! Joy be yours, Gina

Honest answer Is I don't know, Like yourself I only bother with them to get extra tracks/mixes.. BUT there is an obvious need for something to give a radio station to play, hence the need for CD promos..
Whilst I can't speak for the rest of the world.. we both know that if you want to break an artist in the UK, you have to have BBC Radio 2, on your side, everything else is just an also ran..
The proof of that pudding is Eva Cassidy..
So whilst I feel that there is a need for singles, I also feel that there needs to be more accurate placement of promotional material.
Loreena's material is never going to succeed on BBC Radio 1.. It could do so big stylee if placed with the right DJ's On Radio 2..

Are singles that much of an importance these days. When I was a teenager in the early sixties singles were important because before the album came out you only had television and radio to promote the album which after all what singles are for. You couldn't record the television so you had to watch it at the time. Even radio, until the coming of the cassette meant that you only heard the single when the radio played it. So as the years progressed the single has gradually become a dinosaur, it is becoming extinct so is bringing a single out really worth it? I have only ever brought a single if it has different mixes on it. Only a thought that I have I'm sure many will disagree but that's what a forum is for to get other thoughts on the subject.
