"An Ancient Muse", "The Mask and Mirror", "Parallel Dreams" - New Vinyl Releases

Three more of Loreena's signature releases - "An Ancient Muse" (marking its tenth anniversary), "The Mask and Mirror", and "Parallel Dreams" - are being (re)issued on vinyl!  I think it's great three classic albums with so many different aspects of Loreena's work are coming to the format, and I believe this is the first time "Parallel" and "Muse" are being released this way.  Of course, "An Ancient Muse" is especially Eastern, "Parallel Dreams" is especially Western, and "The Mask and Mirror" is a rather even fusion of the two.

Besides some of the live albums, this leaves only one studio album left for a vinyl release, which is, of course, Loreena's biggest success, "The Book Of Secrets".  If I had to guess, that'll come next year to celebrate the album's 20th anniversary, but that's just fan speculation!

Anyway, let's discuss these three exciting new releases here!

I hope when she releases The Book of Secrets they will also release Live in Paris and Toronto.  I have loved all the vinyl that has been released and look forward to other vinyl in the future.  It is also wonderful that she autographs the first 100.   I like having her music on my ipod for when I travel but at home it's only the vinyl that gets played.

Also,   I hope she would consider a Christmas concert in the future with an accompanying live vinyl release of the concernt - I think she should perform at Notre Dame in Montreal for a Christmas concert; it would be wonderful (and it could be shown on PBS)

"Live in Paris and Toronto" would be really neat on vinyl!  With the full Alhambra concert also on vinyl, I don't know if Quinlan would also do its predecessor, but time will tell.

A holiday concert featuring songs from Loreena's themed releases is a cool idea!  I'd love to hear live versions of her awesome Eastern interpretations of holiday classics, like the unforgettable reimagining of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" - that instrumental solo always gives me chills!

RPVee and Kcallaghan, I agree with you. I also would like to Ms. McKennitt do a Christmas concert tour. What you suggested sounds like a groundbreaking idea! I did happen to see her performing "Snow" one November not long ago. Check this one out:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ6V0Te7oCA

If she does do so here in North America during December, we would be all be in for a treat! We will be in festive apparel when she comes. Ah, what a dream would it be. Ah.

I'm a vinyl virgin and recently gifted myself "Nights From the Alhambra" for Christmas along with a (first) turntable/speaker outfit.  The wife and I are looking to permeate every crevice of our new-old house with hi-fi ambience and Ms. Mckennitt & Co. never disappoint.  The manifold instruments that mix it up on this recording-- bouzouki, bodhran, heavy percussion and of course troubadour harp -- lift their vocal personalities one by one through our humble spaces with solemnity and power.

Our own inner architecture is built up by the pensive folk retelling--our own perceptions retold through ancient eyes.  Or our regrets rearranged in hearing a pitch flaw or truncated note resounded in the reaches of our souls' wild foundations.

We have all been gifted life in this golden age of musical exploration and refinement, technology and craft, ingenuity and sacrifice! Embrace and revere it!
