An uncanny thing...

I'm at the end of a remodeling project of the house I live in. It's a pretty old house and it took a lot of time and work, the kitchen being the last big job. Today, Sunday, I was working on the casings and trim around the kitchen windows, preparing them for new windows. Sunday morning is always a good time to put something mellow on the stereo for background while I work on the house, and today I figured I'd put Nights @ the Alhambra on the DVD. Like most everybody, I've probably watched that maybe 15 times already. So there I was, working on windows with Alhambra on. Not 10 minutes went by when I found myself, tools down, totally focused on the TV watching Loreena like it was the 1st time, completely enthralled. It is such a great video. My only complaint is it doesn't have my favorite tune on it, Night Ride. Caroline's solos are nothing but pure soul. Loreena likes to say music found her instead of her it. Hell, it runs away from me screaming. I'm sure glad it found you Loreena because you make my day, every time I put that on...

Hi diaws99 I know what you mean. I can listen to her music and something always knew appears through the headphones. It's although a sound of an instrument has been hiding just waiting to make an appearance how ever many times you hear it it always happens. To quote Shrek there are "layers" of music and each time you you listen a knew one is reached.
Hi dlaws99, Your house renovations sound interesting. It will be so nice when your finished. I can never put the dvd on when I'm trying to do something. I'll always walk over and watch it like I never saw it before. It's so funny!!! I have learned to put the cd on and then I can do my work. Sometimes when I walk out of the house for a minute, I have to pause it so I won't miss anything. Living alone, I find the music comforting and play some every day. ~Kate
Hi dlaws99. A very true list indeed!! Especially #4. I wish I was going to Spain! In my dreams. It was a big deal for me to go from Boston Ma. to Providence R.I. It took a whole hour haha. I wondered about Hugh Marsh too. He's a great musician. ~Kate
I design and make jewelry and I usually put a dvd on that I've seen numerous times because I like the sound but don't want to watch it while working. So if I've seen it a lot I won't get sidetracked......

unless......it's Nights From the Alhambra....

and in that case I'm always sidetracked.
That's when i put on the CD.
Hi NchantedRaven

I feel just the same.
When seeing that DVD it demands my hole attention.

In this very moment I'm listening to Maggie Reilly.
And I can't help to sing along. And when I do so I stop writing. Which means this short message has taken me about 15 min. Red Face
