Meeting Loreena

Hi Jamie

I have had the privilege of seeing Ms. McKennitt in concert many times.  She is extremely accommodating of requests to meet and greet following her concerts.  Obviously there are times when scheduling does not permit but if she is able, in my experience she is more than generous with her time.  I suggest you use the "dialogue" button at the upper right on the community forum area and start a conversation with "Mark, the forum administrator".  He is usually very responsive and will get back to you regarding which concert and when.

Best of luck to you and maybe I will see you on the road!  I have tickets to five of her Fall concerts and am looking forward to continuing the adventure and introducing 6 of my friends to the Loreena experience!

Five? WOW!

Hi Melanie,

I wanted to thank you so much for responding to my post. I'm very excited to be going. I was to a show several years back and it was fantastic. I didn't know if I'd be able to go this time around, but of friend of mine has agreed to make the trip with me and we're going to the show in Reading, PA. Will that be one of the ones you are attending? It would be really great to meet another devoted fan! Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to meet Loreena. I'll have to send Mark a message.

Thanks again for your response, and let me know if you'll be at the same show.

Jamie

Also, us Midwesterners are pretty stoked about her coming out this way. I know we are an odd bunch and not quite Canadian, or European, or a coaster, but we are kinda cool and are happy to have her back in the area after a decade. I even got Front Row Seats for our event!!!! Won't say how we made that happen, but lets just say someone is now a rich person........rich with appreciation!! Really I just got lucky and was first to order when they went on sale.

Hi Noah

IMHO we Midwesterner's know the real meaning of life ain't synthesized in board rooms!  Attending Ms. McKennitt's concert is another endorsement of that quiet Midwestern appreciation for spaces that are genuine!  I think we may share this with our cousins from the North!

Enjoy and let and send me note after the concert.  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Totally agree with you. My first time in person all alone with her was in Florence, march 2007, then other times. In Bologna I met her before the concert and she came in casual dress. It is very uncommon to see her as one of us, and it was really funny too to talk with!

Hi Jamie

I recommend you reach out to Mark McCauley (the LMK community administrator) and seek his guidance.  He manages Ms. McKennitt's after show meet and greets and can help.

I'm curious which show you are going to?

-Melanie

Poor Mark, we all refer to him in any moment! Thanks Mark, and forgive us! :-D

Jamie, I suggest that you write to postmaster@quinlan.com.  You will eventually get a reply from Stacey, who, I think, is the secretary, within about a week or probably less and it will tell you what to do.  Also, tell the Quinlan Road staff at which concert you are attending, nicely introduce yourself and give Ms. McKennitt some nice compliments about her singing and music (I was being nice as well as being kind to Colonel McKennitt when I personally wrote to her). In this way, you might be get a meet and greet opportunity. I will tell you what. I think that Colonel McKennitt will treat you very well like she did to me when she and I (along with my small "entourage" of three) saw each other face to face.  Does that help you, Jamie? I am not a Quinlan Road staff person; however, if you have any further questions, ask me. Thank you.

Fabio, I meant to suggest to Jamie that he/she should give Ms. McKennitt some compliments about her singing and her music (perhaps, even telling her that she is beautiful and wise beyond her years) in the email message requesting an "audience" with Colonel McKennitt herself.  Does that make sense to you, Fabio?

So as an update.... I attended her concert in St Louis over the weekend. I did indeed get to meet all the artists including Loreena! She signed the sheet music of Mummers Dance for me, talked a bit, and took a picture (Two actually, she had her mouth open in the first one). I know for her this was just another fan, in another city, over a long and wonderful career. For me this was a once in a lifetime thing. As an Army Vet. and ex-Police Officer, I often listen to her music to bring calm to my world, especially on those bad days. She has no idea the impact she has had for me over the years and my friend and I truly fanboyed the whole time. It truly meant the world to me. I hope she gets to read this in fact. Wonderful concert, truly wonderful.

No sense at all. Why should he pay compliments? Loreena doesn't look for that, but for kindness. And I think there is no compliment needed, unless it comes from heart and himself.

I'm so excited to be seeing Loreena again! I'm bringing my mom and my boyfriend with me this time to see her too and share in my joy! I'm hoping I can get her to sign a square of fabric for a concert t-shirt quilt i'm working on!! Maybe even a photo op... I've been hoping for that for awhile. Noah, I love the photo you posted!! Will any one else be going to the Lakewood, OH show?

Yes, Fabio, kindness towards her is what I meant and yes, we should act like so when we give her compliments. Noah, I am happy that you have joined the ranks of other people who have encountered Colonel McKennitt.  Jamie, I too am happy for you. You go out there and have a ball. At least, I did, especially when Colonel McKennitt and I met.

That is called PURE HAPPINESS :-D

Tpelacani, I am sorry that you could not have the opportunity to meet Colonel McKennitt. Have you tried contacting Quinlan Road? Perhaps, they could help you, although they are not a "counseling office" (yes, I mean in terms of psychology) for those who have not seen or meet the Colonel herself.

Plus, why do you all call her the Colonel? That's and honorary title not a real title. Having served in the US Army, we give out ranks as special thanks to people but they don't get called by the title. She talked about it during the concert, but never referred to herself as Colonel McKennitt. Its kind of weird.
