Message Order

Dear Administrator Mark

"Message (Post) Order" must be inverted. I mean; messages must be sorted by date&time and put in order from top to the bottom of each page. New messages must be come after older ones, this is natural/logical order.

I will give an example to explain myself better. There are 4 pages, 49 replies in the "Loreena's Clothes" topic. If a new member wants to read all messages in that topic, he/she will live difficulties. After reading first message on first page, he/she will go to last (4th) page, then following 3. and 2. will return to first page again, reading messages from bottom to top of each page.

When i pull scroll bar down with mouse i must see newer messages. First (oldest) message must be on first page and last (newest) message must be on last page.

This is my suggestion and you know the best.
I am sending my best wishes to you and to moderators.

Regards.

Yavuz.

Thank you sooooooooooooooo much for this post. It drives me totally crazy ... it doesn´t make fun to read thread which are longer then 1 page, and that´s sad. It´s hard to follow a conversation.

@ Yavuz: I was trying to send you an private message but i can´t find the way to do it. Not very easy this board. If you read this, maybe you can mail me : pinklotus@netcologne.de

Thanx
Alexandra
I don't agree totally with this. It depends how you look at things. But I do understand new members completely and can imagine it'll take a huge amount of time to read all the messages posted since the beginning. And even if you would change the order, it'll take the same laps of time to go fully through the message board.
On the other hand it's easy for the "ancient" members to see the most recently posted messages in a blink of a eye. So if you don't mind it a lot, I would stick to this order of editting the message board.
Yours respectfully
and warm greetings
Joris
At this point, I have to agree with the original poster. I'm used to reading posts the way they follow up on each other - i.e. one after the other by date.
In the current way this forum reads it is rather annoying to continously scroll down and read back up again.

Love,
Phantas
I encountered this trend of posting last message first a couple of months ago on another forum. It was a new feature.

After getting used to it it gives me no real problems with only a few new messages (sometimes even easier). However, reading a longer topic became very tiresome.

On that forum a lot of people complained about this feature. The solution the programmer applied was adding a button to change the sequence into the way you liked. This gives everyone the option to read it the way he/she wants. Seems to me a nice feature to add to each page (and to preferences for the default).
Hallo Bram,

Very good idea. Gets my vote!!

Greetings, Fionnait;

If you look at the very top of each posting, right across from the name of the person writing the message and their "avatar", you will see the date the message was posted -- such as the one I am replying to: It was posted on April 29, 2007 at 5:58 pm. Down at the bottom of each post is the date the person joined the forum; that might be what you have looking at, thinking it was the date the message was posted.

I hate to keep beating on the drum here, seeing as there are others that have expressed what I'm going to say, but unless this issue has been fixed and I just can't "see" it, I too would really appreciate being able to order the messages so they make chronological sense. Perhaps I'm too spoiled to the OWL format.

For example - I wonder if more turnout would be possible in the privacy forum because as it stands, it is so hard to figure out what the last post really was! There is a lot of potential doubleposting and all around confusion going for me.

I understand that all at QR are very busy with day-to-day activities especially since Loreena is away on tour, but I would highly recommend adopting this feature if it does not exist already.

Thanks!
Angie
