New recording

Is Loreena working on a new recording, set to be released at the onset of her Celtic Footprints tour? I thought I read something like that. Anyway, just curious, as I always look forward to new McKennitt music.

SPOILERS !!! I think I just discovered what is the "Special Tour Release" ! Release date : March 2th. It's an Unplugged Album recorded during the Promotion tour for "The Wind That Shakes The Barley". Loreena made a performance for the Radio SWR1 with Brian Hughes and Caroline Lavelle. Last spring in Germany. The Album is called "Troubadours On The Rhine". Loreena says it's something she had never done before. It's an intimist concert like a one she would have performed for Friends at Home.

I tried to "translate" the best I could this German news sorry if some points are wrong ! Big Grin I could listen the concert (not entirely) on the radio and It was really good. Songs from the last album and old songs. It has a peculiar atmosphere like the one of the first recordings I love so much !

Special Tour Release
A unique recording will be released just in time for the Celtic Footprints Tour. We’ll hold you in suspense until then, but rest assured we’ll be letting you know all the details as soon as they’re confirmed.

So something is coming, but what it is...

I put the news SmilerI was wondering if "Troubadours (french word! Wink) On The Rhine" was the Special Tour Release or if something else would be released too.

When I read the newsletter and "Special Tour Release" I thought it was a recording that would be first sold during the tour and after available in stores, online etc...
Woww!

Its not just a really great traklist. Anyone, who has been there or listened to the broadcasting of this event in April last year, will confirm, that the performance was brilliant and marvellous.
I'm looking forward to the release of this recording.
By the way - is there a chance, that it will be released on vinyl as well?

With kind regards,

Thorsten
I am so excited for Loreena to release this, however with the tracklist now available, I am less than thrilled. All but two songs have been released before live on numerous albums, How come only two songs from Wind That Shakes The Barely made it on to the tracks. ?
I just received my copy today. It is wonderful (as always). The sound is wonderful. I love the Cello used instead of Violin, just a new vision of the songs... Smiler

On the backcover I noticed that the QR logo disappeared and now it is written LM with loreenamckennitt.com... Mark, Does it imply changes to come on the actual website ?
Hi Mark,

I have a question: Will this be the same recording that was aired on the radio or will it be the exact uncut live version? I know that some changes were made for the radio version, e.g. one song was repeated after Loreena messed up the lyrics, but that was sooooooooohoooo sweet and I'd love to have that on CD. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Best regards,

Anni
Haven't heard the radio broadcast so I can't say.

Well, I just listened to both version and from what I can tell the CD contains the same material as was broadcasted by the radion station. The only difference seems to be the order of the songs: Penelope's Song differs in terms of sequential arrangement. Other than that I couldn't spot any differences.

BTW, I *love* the new CD... Smiler

Cheers,
Stefan.
Hi,

The songs on the CD are the the ones which were broadcasted on the radio.
The second performance of "Between the shadows" and "Stolen child" were used for the radio broadcast as well as for the CD.

I really like the CD and it's great to have a remembrance of this extraordinary event...
... and I think, it would have been an even more special recording, if they would have put the introduction of the songs on this CD.

Greetings,

Thorsten
Great cd! I love the unplugged version of "The parting glass" and "The wind that shakes the barley"..more than the album one. I would have preferred more songs from the latest album,but..anyway. Wink
Hi Mark! There will be a "meet and greet" in Rome after the concert?I really hope so..please Smiler
Gianni.
