The Bonny Swans (amazed)

Ok, I don't know how much conversation can come from this, but I discovered something tonight after comparing Loreena's Alhambra performance of The Bonny Swans with The Mask and Mirror's. And it seems it's a whole half step UP in the live performance! Maybe it's just me being a (novice)singer/music freak, but that is such an interesting decision to me! A half step may not seem like a lot, but in the context of that song it's huge! Those high notes are so high! haha! It just blew me away! In a good way! A lot of singers transpose music down steps, Loreena is unique in that she transposed up! I love it! haha! Sorry, it just amazed me! Smiler

I don't know if the other performances are! But now, I'm curious! I don't know why I didn't think to check before. Also, I discovered it because I'm weird and I was trying to sync up the live and original recordings in an audio editor (no life apparently haha) and I couldn't get the melodies to not sound "off" until I lowered the original a half step! Hello Dalton

It's so funny you mention it.
I have known the same for a long long time.

First time I played it on my piano (I have the sheet music), I thought; something sounds different - well, apart from it being my voice and my out-of-tune piano...!
Then I played the CD, just to check...
And I came to the same conclusion as you. The sheet is in C minor, but she sings it in B minor on the CD. Smiler
It sometimes amazes me how my partial hearing can hear that!?

Big Grin Keep it coming

Anxious
